water pump weeping, ok to drive a little?
Or should I not run the engine at all until I replace it?
it's a fresh rebuild and I'd like to let it idle for a long time to build some compression so I can drive it, it seems to be moving water and has plenty of pressure.. but it's got a very slow drip from the front bottom of the housing, I assume it's the weep hole

this is what I like to call a "calibrated" leak LOL, if you're to the point where you know how much to add every day/ week, etc...you can keep an eye on the leakage rates & deal with it when it starts goin REALLY bad. I drove with mine leaking for about 2 months, just added a certain amount of coolant every day before I'd start it up. I OF COURSE am not sanctioning this practice, only supporting the fact you still may have some time to get all the parts/ gaskets together for the pump change. Just keep a close eye on it...I'm sure some other members here are going to disagree with me!!!

ive been running mine like this for a while, no overheating problems, just a slight leak. Im kind of broke and dont have choice. Im getting one in less than a week. A slow leak from the weephole is a early sign that your seals in your waterpump are going. As long as its not gushing out, it should be ok for a little while. I wouldnt drive it too much though. you never know what might happen next.
