Water Pump Leak

I've got a water leak where the water pump meets the water pump housing.

first off I dont have a FSM, I figure that I get a new Gaskget, drop the fan off the front and un-do the bolts that attach the water pump to housing. Clean up the surfaces and replace with Gaskget. Is it that simple?

Do I need to drain both radiator and engine coolant or will the radiator surfice?

Thanks Guys, The engine is a replacement I fitted that developed the leak after the first warm up.

yeap, a new gasket and some silicone RTV (gasket maker) will do the job nicely...
a pretty straight-forward / simple operation there.

Just pull the lower radiator hose and undo the radiator cap. This will drain most of the coolant, and any that would make a mess once you unbolt the old pump. Also, check as best you can that the new pump has no wobble when spun by hand. Bad bearings are not uncommon, and will result in nasty vibration over 3000 RPM since the clutch fan is attached to it.

If the leak is at the weep hole the water pump seal may have failed. Might as well replace the pump while you're at it.

Just been playing with the old engine.

You also have to remove the main drive pulleys to get one of the bolts out, (the lowest one). More hassel!
