You'll probably have to take it off. It's not that bad really, just 4 10mm nuts in the center. It really helps if you have a strap wrench or something to keep it from turning while you undo the bolts. Make sure you keep everything aligned, it only goes on one way. I'd mark everything before hand, it's a huge pain in the *** to figure out the alignment later.

In the time that it took you to post this and wait for an answer, you could have had it on and off umpteen times... Stop being lazy and just get it over with.

Pulley has to come off.
Sorry.

Save your self some time and rotate the pulley till the timing mark aligns with the pin.
Makes putting it back on a lot simpler.

You don't have to remove the pully I have the same car you do and just did a rebuild. Here is how you do it. Remove the the front plate from the water pump first, don't take it off as a whole. If you take the fan off still attached to the front plate of the pump housing it will give you the space you need I just did this it will work your just gonna need a new gasket between there. I bet its that area between the short bolt on the bottom of the pump between the pump and pulley huh. With some menuevering it will come off. You may have to remove the water pump studs if you leave them in it won't come off the way I described

yes the pulley has to come off, it's 4 freaking bolts... less time to come inside and post this than to take the damn thing off.
