Water in exhaust
Water in exhaust
Went and started my car today after a couple days of sitting due to a turbo on its way out. I noticed that it did not sound the same, kinda like a pufffing sound with a really little amount of smoke coming out. Noticed that there was water in my mufflers, a little water was dripping at the flange between the mufflers and exhaust. When I turn the engine off, theres like a pinging sound coming from the turbo, like water or oil is hitting the manifold and burning. Are the coolant seals going, or could there be water in the exhaust due to the seals in the turbo going?

there are a few possibilitys
from sitin there could justbe condstion in the exhaust...(easy heheh)
or a coolent seal could be going, does the exhaust smell sweet, or is it white smoke.. if that then a coolent seal could be on itz way out.. one way you can test for a coolent leak is pull the egi fuese.. MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COLD.. then pull off the coolent cap on the waterpump neck, then just have somone crank the car then look in the coolent where u took the cap off, if it bubbles up when the car is cranking itz a coolent seal.. if no bubbles itz just condsation from sitting

is this water or coolant that is coming out? as Dustin said, does it have a sweet smell or is the water green?
most people do not realize that H2O is a normal byproduct of combustion, water in the exhaust from a cold engine/exhaust system is a normal characteristic but most people simply do not pay attention to their cars...
lastly, is the car using coolant? coolant low light on or buzzer going off driving you insane?

sorry, by water I mean coolant. The buzzer doesn't go off, I drove the car a couple times around my neighborhood and didn't have to refill the coolant yet. I probably will tomorrow though, but I hope not. I stuck my hand in my n1 muffler and it was almost dripping in gray watery sludge :/. I know my turbo is going due to excessive oil deposits in my compressor but I have no oil line ran to my TID. It is a jdm engine, I would have rebuild it when I got it but wanted to see if I would get lucky and actually get a good one. Engine had no oil in it when I got it so I think the seals might have rotted.
theres no bubbles at all when I turn it over with the filler neck cap off. Could the reason theres coolant in my exhaust be because of the dying turbo? Theres very light white smoke that comes out of my exhaust.
