is wastegate porting necessary???

I called Racing Beat and they said that the porting of the wastegate isn't necessary with their full exhaust setup. I told them though that I don't have my stock air box, only a cone k&n on the end of my AFM. They then said that their exhaust setup only increases boost by about 2psi only. Which shouldn't make the car spike to 15psi like mine is doing. So now I don't know what to do, port my gate and see if it helps, or look for a problem else where, any ideas?

Have you checked your wastegate actuator or the line leading to it?

PORT IT!!!........ If your looking to be able to control your boost at all with the mods you have you NEED to port the wastegate. If you like 12-15 PSI limits and spiking, leave it alone, but I hope your fuel and ignition are up to par for that boost level, that and its a hell of a lot to ask from a stock turbo.

Wastegate checking

first off, let everything cool down because turbo is pretty damn hot , then you remove the vac line that is connect to the wastegate and here you need a pressure gauge/pump for this, then you attach the wastegate vac line to the pump, then mark a line (white out perfered by most) onto the "stick" that the wasetagte is connected to and the housing or something, then you should apply like around 12 psi, i think but no more than that. When the wastegate stick moves then whola your wastegate works, if it don't move then replace wastegate or buy urself a new turbo or used s5 if you don't have an s5..

jack up your car and get it from the bottom it is almost easyest this way! also it removes rather easily from where the stock airbox is!

no you will need the s5 manifold, but then it will. The s4 and s5 turbos are the same except the s5 one has 2 wg ports and the s5 manifold is better flowing and doesnt have that gay twin scroll thingy.
