WasteGate?
first off my car is a 87 turbo. How can you tell if your wastegate is working? should you see it move a little while just reving it up? I just installed a downpipe and im getting way to much boost. I've done the tid mode with 3 in now its back to 2 in to try to lower the boost. the 2.5 downpipe, 3in ,y's off to 2.5 than to straght threw mufflers. i know i'll be hitting high boost but if i would floor it it'd hit well over 15psi. I can move the wastgate so i know its not stuck but i rev it up to where the blow off valve blow off a lot of air and i dont see the wastegate move a bit. i ported the wastegate i while back too. And help please?

What should i look for? i've removed my boost controller. Made sure the line from the turbo to the wastegate its good. but if i take that line off should it kill the engine? could i run the line to the wastegate to somewhere else than to the turbo?

Well, Why don't you just get bigger secondaries, a walbro pump, and enjoy the 15 psi of boost safely!!
That sounds a little odd... what kind of boost gauge are you using?? Are you positive it's accurate?
You can always apply air pressure to the wastegate line, and see if it moves.
Another thing you can do is to attach a twist tie, or wahetevre, to the wastegate lever.... just rig it up so that the tie will move or whatever when the lever moves. Take the car for a quick run to 10+ psi, then check the tie....
WHy don't you just port the wastegate more? You can overport it too, just to a certain extent.

no no i un hooked the wastegate rod so the flapper door would be open all the time. and still boosted to 15 psi easy. i have 720's and a wabro pump, but it goes even beond 15 if i would keep on it. it doesent go to 15 then stop. Another thing i thought of. this a jspec motor and turbo, the motor is suppost to be a 89-91. with a 87 front cover. and the turbo is a 87. could this be the problem? and when i say its suppost to be a 89-91 motor im not sure the knock sencer bolts into the rotar houseing so im pretty sure its 89-91.

Why are you worried???
Sounds like you can support the 15psi.
As long as you aren't leaning out, but I doubt it.
Sounds like the only only remedy would be to wrap the intake filter with some duct tape, or port the wastegate more. Or get an S5 turbo, with the dual wategate.
