wants to die when very cold only
my car (after ******* around w/ emissions equipment coming off and going on) has developed a cold idle problem. for the first 20-30 seconds of startup i have to assist it to stay alive. after that the car will have a smooth uneven idle for a bit then settle down to a nice even idle when warm. all i happened to do was take off/put on the ACV and i didnt put sealant back on the blockoff plate when i put it back on.
could this be due to an intake leak or thermowax inoperation. this only started happening when i was messing w/ it

What did you "mess with" Did you remove the coolant flowing to/around the thottle body? did you remove the secondary throttle plates?
Usually in colder climates once you remove the coolant flowing to the throttle body you'll need to assist the car during start-up. Here in florida i have no reason to do so. Especially cause my car is in the garage every night. you said something about the termowax, mines completly removed and i have no problem.
Also, if it was a vac leak/intake leak it would not idle even when warmed up. Go back and double check everything. depending on what you removed i think this is a normal conseqence

Thats not a problem, its a feature, you shouldnt drive her for the first 30 seconds after starting anyhow, so holding throttle shouldnt be a problem,.. my guess would be the thermowax though.
