want my turbo as loud as possible.

well, we just replaced my 100k mile turbo with a slightly used one (about 30k miles) and i installed a bonez 2.5" downpipe and and HKS intake (w/ the stock TID) what would make my turbo louder? i want it to be as loud as possible so i can scare off the ricers and not have to tell them that racing them is not worth my gas... any suggestions? i thought that getting a stainless TID would make it a little louder. i really love the sound of that turbo spooling up!

a quick spool turbo will sound louder because the exaust won't drown it out at lower rpm's

Look into BLitz Blow off valves they like loud.. btw scare off ricers by leaving them in the dust. Only Ricers think being loud (stereo and exhaust) makes them fast.

I am running a straight pipe instead of the old cats and a Blitz open-atmosphere blow off valve, and trust me, that's enough to scare off most of the ricers. (And that pesky Mustang that thinks he's so bad-***...)

a TID will make the turbo scream! but watch for boost creep. it'll go up 2-3psi.

port the turbo and the wastegate (to avoid creep and improve spool) and run an open air BOV...I recommend the HKS super sequential unit, they look and sound terrific!!! There was one BOV from graham goode racing of UK that is a WRX specialist...when the STi V5 swap was completed in my brother's 99 2.5 RS (after our turbo kit tossed a rod after 40k turbocharged miles) we installed this piece and it was TOO loud. Seriously, ANY amount of boost (barely out of vacuum on the gauge) would make this piece ring louder than any other BOV we used in our other cars at full boost. The Greddy Type S we had on our turbo kit on his older motor was nothing compared to the sound of this thing...it almost sounded like a gun at a full 20 psi, it was a little too much.

weld a peice of metal to the turbine so it scrapes the housing. that'll be loud. or get one of those "turbo-style" mufflers with a turbine in the end. those are supposed to be really loud. or put a microphone in your turbo and hook it up to a PA system.

No, run over a coke can so that it wedges against the frame, and your tire will rub on that....
*Ahh, another little trip down amnesia lane... Anyone else remember doing that?*
