Want a cleaner bay..What alternator to use???

Okay so we have a TurboII here and we are cleaning the engine bay up. Removing the A/c, power steering, rats nest all that ugly crap.
Well getting to the alternator I don't like the look of the two wire plug coming from the alternator......I know its not a lot of clutter but we decided to be **** on this car.
So I recall hearing about using a GM alternator or something from a Rotary head at a meet once a while back.
Well after searching the forum I couldn't find anything relevant to this.
does anyone know what can be used???
I have also heard such a type of alternator reffered to as a "one-wire alternator".
I know these alternators just have the regulator built in to them.
So someone please help.
thanks in advance

Well, I've seen an adapter to mount the alternator on the side if you want to be REALLY ****. I can't find the link to it, though.

Of all the crap in the engine bay you're worried about this? That's not ****, it's irrational. Any alternator is going to have this plug so you might as well get over it.

I'm assuming this is an S5 since the plug is visable. If you're really that worried about it, downgrade to an S4 alternator. It has a smaller plug on the back where you can't see it. I'm sure you won't care about the capacity drop...

So do ours.

Thanks for the link. I've seen the mount to move the alt to the side. I just want to pull out wires.
It's not for any other reason than we are bored and want to do it.
I know some will think it's irrational. We're just doing it for the hell of it.
The car is a S4. It does have the smaller plug. But I recall hearing about using a GM alt. that only needs the one wire that goes tot he battery and it cycles on and off based on that one wires voltage read as opposed to the RX7's setup where it needs to be plugged in to know when to go on and off.

Just put 2 batteries in your bins and take off the alternator. Run off battery and charge them overnight when you're not driving. /sarcasm

Keep that up and the cars bound to not be on the road very long. I hate knowing what I'm doing, I like to flail around and just do stuff for no reason. Nevermind repercussion.

With the alt relocation kit, it'll be out of your way so you don't have to see the wires as much... If you're gonna switch alternators at least let it be for a BETTER one... Like the FD alt...

okay so I found an alternator relocation bracket. I picked it up from a local guy for about half price of new.
I guess we will be rocking that out.
