voltage meter

hello to all on my 88 gxl I noticed the voltage meter is not working. It used to be intermittent , but now its not working at all. Im not sure what to do on diagnosing the problem. What should I check first? I know my batt. is ok cause the car runs and starts fine (knock on wood). Any help would be greatly appreciated- thanks in advance-Ren

On the back of the gauge assembly there are screws that the electricity coming in from the plugs, runs down and connects to the actual gauges.

One of the screws on yours is corroded.

And this subject has been covered before and you should have searched first.

LOL no the voltmeter i was saying it doesnt matter whether or not it works. You might as well measure the voltage by the position of the sun.

My favorite answer: Rap on the plexiglass cover of the combination meter while the car is idling. If the gauge now works....then remove the combination meter and go to work on the back of it......or rap on the plexiglass because your lazy like me.

Search????? Hmmmmm. The word at the top of this page??? I don't think it works. I typed in swimming pools and got nothing. Same with zebra Texas Lottery. Nah. Does not work atall.

Speaking of swimming pools, i think that's a great idea for any NA owners... just drive em on in, that's about as much use as you'll ever get from yer slow cars!

Last time I checked, the stock voltmeter is pretty accurate...At least, it's good enough for 90% of peope here who wouldn't know how to properly interpret the readings anyway.
