VIN on engine anywhere?

VIN on engine anywhere?

Hi, Im thinking of buying a USDM Turbo II engine. The guy selling it doesnt know the exact milage that it had on it... So, Im wondering if there is a VIN number on the engine so I could carfax it? Any help would be great! Thanks

I am pretty sure it is located on the firewall and door jam only...

Ok, thats what I figured. I wasnt sure if there was a partial vin on the engine or not... Anyone else know? Thanks

No, the chassis VIN is not anywhere on the engine.
The engine has it's own, unique engine serial number stamped on the front iron.

Can the engine S/N be corellated with the VIN? In other words, is it possible to determine if the engine in the car is the original engine in a particular car?

but good luck with that one - I had to go through hell to try and find out the year range of the numbers on the front cover for ID'ing some random engine parts...OH and I never actally got that info either

Yep, Mazda has the database with all that data.

If they wanted to do that for you, yes.
Those kinds of queries are usually only for law enforcement, and I cannot guarantee you as a private citizen that you would get the same treatment.

Assuming you're serious (since you're from the Ukraine)...

The door "jamb" refers to the doorframe opening on the car body (especially where the door latchplate mounts on the vertical structural member).
