Very noob Question

Ok..My dad has a 1991 Rx-7 convertable..and i am wondering what is the exact type of the car; like engine, etc. I know its a non turbo and a automatic but is there anything else that's different? Also, another stupid question..but does this car have lsd?

heres some pics of it:

also, the car has about 105k miles on the body and about 1800 on the rebuilt engine.

Dont flame me! lol.. i know im a major noob at this : /

any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the board

Here is a great thread to read that will answer many of your question. It is titled:

Specifications: What did the 2nd Generation RX-7 come w/. Options & standard features
A listing of the options and features available per year:

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/specifications-what-did-2nd-generation-rx-7-come-w-options-standard-features-249616/

Nice looking vert. Good luck with it.

No, it did not come with LSD.

lol... oh, alright. That sucks you won't be able to keep it. You should stick to this site and get some RX-7 FC manuals and read up! Then go out and buy an RX-7 if your dad won't let you keep this one.

Im 17, Its pretty clean overall on the outside except the interior is worn which is usual considering how old it is,

And it sucks now because he is now saying I must get an american made car instead of a import so basically he wants to sell it

Well, it's a S5 vert, so parts are salvagable if wrecked.

I find that statement hilarious. how can someone say they dont know anything about imports. An engine is an engine, be it a piston or rotary. they all have the same components (ex: all piston motors have cams, etc).

tell your dad to not be so narrow minded, and that you want to keep the car.

that car would be wicked fun with a 5 speed box and a turbo swap, convertible 7s are a bi more valuable than your average coupe

Verts are a little heavier than a coupe.
That being said, they handle like a convertable sports car!

His dad is probably not narrowminded, he probably doesn't want his 17-yo son in a convertible sports car due to safety or insurance reasons. Or both.

Dad's are like that.
