Sounds like the engine is operating as it should.

Prior to the rebuild, idling at 10.1 is way, way to rich and indicates there was a problem.

Perhaps you didn't have the ACV hooked up previously and now with it functioning, the air pump is directing air into the exhaust ports as it should.

thanks for the reply

really? i thort 14 . 3 afr on idle was really high is that what it should be stock????

i forgot to mention the only non standard thing is the air pump has been removed and the egr or what eva the large bit is on the side of the lim has been blanked with a large plate but this was the same prior to the rebuild

also the map sensor is it best to go direct to the inlet?

14.7 is perfect burn , normally my car idles around 11.5 -12.5 afr , if you're really worried rewire your fuel pump to run constant maximum voltage

Check your timing and adjust your variable resistor if it works

If that engine was sucking fuel at 10.1 On idle..It wasn't running right then.
Most Turbo cars see those numbers on BOOST.
at 14.7 you are GOLDEN..leave it alone if the idle is set to your liking(rpm wise).
You want to see the Numbers walk away when the car gets revved and in Boost..(like 11 or so in boost). That is when the car needs fuel.
It doesn't need that much fuel at idle..so 10.1 AFR is just feeding the engine fuel is does not need.

S5's do not have the variable resistor. That's an S4 only deal. As others have stated, yours sounds good. If you have the airpump still and you're running 14.3, you're living the dream. As long as it isn't stumbling, idle is good and you're not stalling out sounds like your engine is running wel;.

WITH the airpump and ACV functional the AFR's will be:

idle 16's (the air pump air is injected BEFORE the o2 sensor)
1200-3500 rpm cruise, it should be hovering around 14.7.

3500+ and WOT, it should start around 12:1 and get richer as the rpms go up.

with NO airpump.

idle: you'd be lucky to see 12:1, probably richer
1200-3500, it should hover around 14.7
3500+ and WOT, same as above, 12:1 and then get richer

s5 doesnt have variable resister.. but does have an air bypass screw ( on the AFM ) for fine tune of mostly the idle
