Vert trunk info needed
I recently bought my first vert (have a bone stock 87 that I bought new in 87) and am working on getting it on the road (brakes, tires, etc.). The trunk had a piece of carpet that looks like the original piece, but whatever was under it as a support has long since disappeared. Right now there are pieces of what looks like luan plywood that the previous owner must have put it.
Could anyone provide photos of their vert trunk so I can see what it is supposed to look like?
Thanks!

just get some thin wood and build and carpet the way you think it should be. The stock set-up is nothing to fall all over. Wait until the little rod that opens the trunk from you key falls off.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Stock there was a peice of Luan Plywood across the back, where the spare tire would go on the coupes, and a peice of masonite over the jack in the left hand corner.
Both of these were covered with a single carpeted panel that covered the entire floor of the trunk area. There were two factory tie down straps, simular to the coupes.
The sides of the trunk were vac formed plastic panels.

I took a few pics... but they're too large to attach... can e-mail if desired. Send me a PM...
A little thing we found... the spare fits in the left side of the trunk.

My 'vert is in the shop now for its 120K service, but I can help out with pics in a few weeks if no one else can come thru. The straps are there to hold down the convertible top if you go to "targa" mode. Unfortunately targa mode is super noisy and I would never recommend trying it, what else can you do with those straps?
As to fitting the spare in the trunk, mine won't go.

In truth, I really don't need pics, just where the four straps attach to the body. The only one attached is a long strap and it's attached to a screw on the right-forward side of the trunk floor.

My 88 vert has two forward screwed to the floor and the 2 back ones are on studs with nuts holding them in place. the studs are located just inboard and below the tail lights. hopes this helps

There's a screw on the right-forward side of the trunk floor holding one strap down, but I can't locate the screw hole for the left-hand strap... maybe if it had some hair around it

As to cover storage - I don't have the targa cover, so can't help there. The boot cover usually gets stored in the hatch area if I get stuck in a rainstorm. Otherwise I just leave the top down and the cover in place. I live in california, so my top might go up once a quarter just to make sure it works.
