Vert Top Electronics question (due to over voltage meltdown)

So my Idiot cluster, A/C logicon, electric fan, several fuses and relays, and BATTERY all failed.... Idiot cluster actually caught fire and let a lot of the Japanese smoke out.

This was due to a voltage reg. failing on an s5 alt... I had never imagined this could happen but it did, and was putting out 95 V at 2,500rpm.

Anyway, I've fixed the important things (megasquirt survived, over voltage protection for the save) but the convertible top does not work any more at all. I was not trying to move the top while the over voltage situation was going on so I don't think the motors should be fried. Does the Idiot cluster have to be installed for the top to work? Is there some sort of computer? Or is it probably a relay?
If there is a computer or relay that is most likely bad, could someone point me in the direction of where to physically look?

Also, the battery was draining because the rear window defrost was on 100% of the time, the indicator still stays lit but I unplugged it from the glass in the back, could someone point me in the direction of the defrost relay as well?

BTW, my battery looked so bad (meted/bloated) that walmart would not even test it, they just handed a new one over :-)
Thanks.

That is you jacking up a quote.

Japanese smoke is the smoke that inside of all Japanese electronics that makes them work so well, once this smoke escapes the performance of said electronics tends to suffer.

try applying power directly to the motors and see if they do anything. if they dont then yea they are probably gone.

All electronics for the top are located on the top motors themselves, limit switches, top computers, etc

grab your copy of the FSM,
check the test connector under the hood, on the passenger shock tower first.
then the connectors to the motors.
with such highvoltages you need to check the harness as well as the motors.
