didn't you have a set of s5 TII rims you sold for dirt cheap not too long ago?
Nope, not me. I did have a set, but I had to trade them, a decent 88 t2 with a rebuilt motor (total investment $1300), and $800 cash to get the convertible. But, the convertible had a ton of stuff that I sold and made back $2100, so I basically traded the rims for this car (minus engine and drivetrain).

Is that the same car I bought the AFM from?
Well, I had 2, one from this car and one from the 90 t2 I parted last year, so it could have been.

Kevin, are you into performance at all, as in like drag racing, auto xing, etc?
I love to go fast/raise hell, but I never race at all. Any way I go to any type of race function, formal or not, it is pretty much 1.5 hours from me. With my workload, and married life, it just doesnt fit in. I just raise hell on the backroads around town

Oh and, is that your house? Is that where you do your work then too or do you have a seperate place for RR?
Yup, this is my house. You cant see it, but the basement/garage is underneath, and is the same size as the house upstairs with no obstructions. I currently have 3 vehicles inside and plenty of room for storage/work as well. Still, Id like to have a seperate shop at some point in time...its hard to keep the house clean and organized.

Kev, now all you need is the silver wheel lip trim from the parts car and you are golden!
Screw that ****. That thing (along with it's chrome fender trim) is long since at the crusher. Good riddance!

Where did you end up getting it painted?
Remember what I told you I wish I could find? A guy with abilities and values just like myself, except autobody/paint instead of mechanical? Well, I found him. HE works out of his home/garage just like me, and does nothing but body/paint, just like I do nothing but wrench. He has done several show cars locally (ricers, bikes, rods, etc.) and showed me several picture albums full of his work. I left my car with him on a Friday night (before easter) and he had it finished Tuesday night.

Anyway Im going to have him do my S-10 as well. HE had this neon he was putting a tribal design on the hood and doors/fenders, and it was freakin awesome, show quality for sure. In Viper blue none the less! It reminded me of what I wanted to do with the lowrider, black with silver ghost flames up front, and he said he could do it no problem.

I like em but not as much as the rest of the package.
Me too, I believe. They might grow on me though. I think Id like a 7.5 wide rim better though, these are a bit too wide to suit me.

You have been busy Kevin!! Nice vert!!!!
Now Im ready to throw down on all these damned white POS turbo cars running around here

Looks good, love the steering wheel.
You should feel it, it drives better than it looks.

Im thinking now about a hicomp (9.4) 13BT, stock ports, massive wastegate porting, 3mm apex seals (GSLSE rotors), NA race clutch, and 4.1 or 4.3 LSD rear. Stock EFI, IC, and turbo, 4-8psi of boost, walbro, filter, s5 TID, and some type of straight exhaust with silencer (perhaps an RB).

The high compression and heavy GSLSE rotors and counterweights will help with torque/low end for this heavy *** bitch. THE 3mm seals will help hold up against the boost, which I use sparingly. The rearend will help with take off as well, but hurt the road manners/mileage a bit (a vert with an exhaust revved up sucks). However the hicomp rotors should maintain some degree of mileage as well.

Cool Kevin, when I come down in a month we will have to race the 2 verts, everywhere except that sick *** turn at the bottom of your hill.

wow...I'm pretty surprised by how good it looks. I wasn't sure which 3kgt wing you were talking about. Good choice, I have to get used to it but it's not ugly or anything...just weird seeing on a car that doesn't weigh more than my house. Also I LOVE the wheels on the car...and I don't even like 18's! They look very good, but not big at all...they fit the car. Congrats man, I'm very surprised...the car is gorgeous.

Nice looking vert. I don't like the spoiler or the new wheels personally, but what matters is if you like them, not me. I wish mine was red, I love red, but my interior is blue (Why the F___ did Mazda make blue interiors???) so I am stuck with blue. I would like to find a complete grey or black interior..........

Engine bay?? WTF? lol

Well, lets see. IT is a bone stock 89-91 NA engine. The DPO that had the car thought he was gonna make a freakin racecar out of it, so he painted the engine bay with flat black engine paint. Yes, all of it. Over top of the red, which he later scratched up while installing the jspec. So the bay is flat black with red scratches. Thus, no enginebay pics. Plus, the paint guy did a great job on the outside, but he sprayed a shitload of paint through the turbo scoop, and now I have a pink VDI intake that Ill have to clean up.

So, for now, no engine bay pics. The thing runs great (rebuild, 2k miles, medium SP on 5/6 ports only, pineapple sleeves) but isnt fast or even pretty, right now. As I said, all that will come later. For now it is just a highway cruiser, and a damn good one at that.
