VDI operation

im thinking about getting rid of the ACV and airpump on my car (90' gxl) i got the 5th & 6th port actuator problem figured out, but what about the VDI? the shop manual says its operated by the air pump. how would i go about controling that with no airpump?

Get a 12v Air Compressor like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1864164278 I am still awaiting mine I have won. I will be using a fully Independant auxilliary port activiation system that will Include a RPM Switch, EGR Solenoid and a 12v Air Compressor. Do a search, will yield you plenty of Info.

So what are you going to use tp operate the aux ports? They need the air pump too.

Unless you fit another air pump (like that electric one), you can't. Why don't you just leave it on? You'll have working 6PI and VDI systems so the engine will be able to make more power and torque throughout the rev range instead of just up high. The air pump takes stuff all power to run. Take the belt off and spin it by hand. You'll see it spins quite freely.

I think It's a Canadian thing. How are you finding It? Are the In put for the air hoses outrageously huge? That Is my only concern which I'll have to work out.

Explain something to me.

The airpump supplies air to the VDI and 6 port actuators.

So you remove the airpump, but then INSTALL an air compressor to replace it?

why?????????????????

I don't understand this reasoning.

A few reasons on my part.

-Reduce weight (somewhat)

-Less of the motor to run, considering their Is one less belt running off the crankC

-Cleaner appearance of engine bay

-By removing the Air Pump, I can remove the Air Control Valve and Split Air Pipe

-My personal favorite, the 12v Air compressor Is releasing air at 6psi, so that means Instant opening of the Auxilliary Ports thus meaning I can fine tune my RPM Switch to open up the ports INSTANTLY.

Reason enough? I did this to gain full Independant access with the Auxilliary ports ensuring they are tuned In accordingly with my mods. i.e no more back pressure.

no, the out-put is a good size small size, perfect for us (the part we connect to the actuators). but the input it a little odd, but should be ok. im going to get one of those little K&N Breather filter for the in-put cuz i dont want to blow dirty air in the actuator.

Luckily I already have one of those K&N Filters on my Air Pump already. I'll just swap It over. I'll post my results.
