AZ vdi & 6th port

I having troubles trying to get the s5 na swap to function right with my s4 body, computer and harness.
I guess the main problem would be the vdi and 5th & 6th ports.
Ive been reading around at every link and site possible but im still unsure of how this is suppost to be hooked up right.

do i run a vaccum hose from the air pump itself to opperate BOTH vdi & 6th ports?
from what i have been seeing that is what their saying.

so in order to operate the vdi, I would need to run off the air pumps back hose with a rpm switch?
and do i do the same with the 5th & 6th ports as well?

Im a little confused....
I had people point me in directions of links and websites but is there anyone who has done a s5 swap into a s4? if so please help guide me through on how to operate all this properley.
thanks.

I'm trying to swap the s5 uim onto my s4 block and am running into the same issues. Most of the guides no longer have pictures and I'm more of a visual person. So if anyone has the guide saved on their computer post the file up here so we can dl it.

these two are the most helpful but again I'm not too confident without pictures

ok ive read them all and i still dont understand how to actually run the vaccum lines off the air pump to the vdi and the 5th & 6th ports.

Does it all run off the rear hose off the air pump, do you just plug it into the rear hose and t-off from there?
I know i can use a rmp switch to open the vaccum switch which allows the air to flow to the vdi actuator.

now would i also need to run a rpm switch for the 5th & 6th ports to a vaccum switch or can i run off the air pump without a switch and pull staight off the air pump directly to the 5th & 6th ports?

Im confussed....

btw im running a s5 engine and s5 intake with a s4 tb and wire harness.

Same way I did it when I had an S4 NA with an S5 intake manifold. 2 RPM switches, 2 emissions solenoids, and a modified stock air pump.

Honestly how well does that setup work?

Would also like to see your setup.
Have you used it yet?
If so how well does it honestly work?

Perfectly. It's exactly how it was designed to work on S5 NAs.

it's on the car now I used a design from another forum member with some modification, unfortunately i can't think of his name right now to give credit.

It works pretty well actually I have alot more top end than running on 4 ports and no noticeable drop in power in low rpm, the only issue I can see at this point is the sound the valve makes (loud air leak or super chargery )

This is a pic of the back of the airpump I used some 3/4" line, a 3/4" steel pipe union (threaded on both ends) and a 3/4" pvc cap. I drilled the end of the pvc cap and threaded in a 1/2"-3/8" hose fitting (the barbed ones) then ran a 3/8" line to the next component

This is where the 3/8" line from the airpump goes to (ziptied to the charcoal canister) it is just a 1/2" Female "T" fitting. On the right side we have another 1/2"-3/8" barb fitting, on the bottom a 1/2"-1/4" barb fitting (with 1/4" vac line running to the actuators) and on the top we have a 1/2"-1/2" union (threaded on both sides it's under the zip tie) and finally the valve

It's is a pretty simple design, the valve is used to adjust the airflow from the airpump to get the actuators to open at the correct time, and that is about it.

I will look for the original thread I used this idea from and post a link.

-Miles

Edit: just realized you did an s4 to s5 swap, not vice versa so I am not really sure about the vdi, this will make your 5/6 ports open though haha

Edit again: here is the link to the thread I got the idea from https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ort+activation

I have no emissions (so no air pump) what would be the best solution for me to run my VDI and aux ports (currently have a s4 manifold on and the Previous owner took out the sleeves and jbwelded the actuator ports)
