go buy a 600 smoke machine to hook up to your car. It will spew smoke where the leak is. If you wanna save your $$ then stop being lazy and check all the vaccuum lines. If you ARE too lazy then you chose the wrong car, these cars are high maintenance GF's.

there really is no simple way. You can BUY a vaccuum-leak-tester for 40 bux but you'll still need to check the lines. Tackle it little by little. 3-4 vaccuum lines a day until you find it.

no i would have to do it all at once becuase i would have to take the intake off down the lim thus i couldn't really get to work the next day.

Well, you can spray starter fluid around the vac hoses and see if the idle changes. There are some lines that are under the UIM, though, so you might have to pull the intake to get to the lines. Unfortunately, those seem to be the most likely to break due to the extreme heat in that area.

> If you're gonna go that far taking off the UIM, might as well replace all your vaccum lines.

start at 5AM? what if the problem is NOT under the intake manifold? what if it's one of the sensors that are easily accessible? don't complicate your life unless you can't help it. UNLESS you already checked all the normal vac lines already and you KNOW it's under the manifold.

close i leave for work at 7 and get back around 6 to 6:30.
i've felt around and cant feal it and have checked all the lines that are accesible with everything in and i've got nothing so i guess that i KNOW that its under the manifold if there is one.

I got a leak too.
Going to get at it next weekend.
Do this first, BEFORE you start ripping things apart:
-Order a lower uim gasket first, have rtv handy ($4)
-Order the hoses, I ordered 10 ft from Mazdatrix. ($20)
-I also ordered a EGR block off plate (because I know this is where I'm leaking) ($8)
I got all this from Mazdatrix, because I prefer to shop online, plus i get a free license plate frame! Their prices are better than dealer retail, and even with my parts discount at the local dealer, he can only match Mazdatrix, add in tax, gas, and my drive time, not worth it. $4 shipping.
---
Should be able to do it in a day if you have all the parts.
Try spraying carb cleaner around all the lines first to narrow down the location.
When I spray around the base of the egr, the idle goes up about 2500 rpm.
