Steve Gambone 76 RX4/twin turbo, had just set this thing up and was doing a frist ever test drive on I80, .5"vac cap came off, I though beatting it on with a hammer it would never come off, well when it did, I was along way from home and ET needed a cell phone, I was in lock there it was still sitting on the motor, now it has a hose clamp, so doing this for more then 30 yr one would think I knew better

I find thatthe short zip ties work the best, first tighten them down of the cap then push them of the vac outlet, it should be kinda hard to push it on.
I use thos eto hold all my vaccum lines on...they work wonders

My Input Is answering your question Indirectly.
When I had my Manifolds sandblasted I clear coated them there after, except the nipples that were masked during the clearcoating. I took advantage of the roughage to allow the new vacuum caps/silicone hoses to get a better grasp, thus allowing zero zip ties to be present. I personally don't like the look of an Engine Bay being covered In these. I'll probably end up welding the existing nipples shut In time.

For the regular, small size nipples, 5/32" hose and caps work perfectly and are available at any local autoparts store. They fit a hair snug, and are almost impossible to remove after installation without tearing them up. I have run 17psi without them popping off.
You only have problems if you run something really soft like silicone, or if your hose/caps are the wrong size for the job. Always use stuff that is a hair too small, so it fits nice and snug with no "half *** rigging" necessary to hold it in place.
