Vacuum assistance required
My motor has finally settled into its new home and started to idle around 800rpm. Fixed the E-fan problem and installed my new water temp gauge. I found my water thermo-valve being a huge vacuum leak. I capped it with a beer cap to see what woudl happen and now my check engine light is on.
What is that valve supposed to be connected to on the end? It is the one with the 2 small vacuum lines (one with the green and white check thing) on top of the throttle body. Any and all help is appreciated.

I'm 90 percent sure that there is a filter there. I *think* that when the car is cold, the thermo valve directs the vacuum to the double throttle diaphram located at the front of the throttle body(that's where the green/white check/delay valve is heading to). The double throttle diaphram now has a vacuum on it and retracts the lever going to the double throttle outer throttle plates and closes them. When the water heats up, a valve in the water thermo valve moves. When it moves it opens an opening to the filter which bleeds the vacuum to atmosphere and that results in no vacuum to the double throttle diaphram which in turn causes the outer set of throttle plates to spring load to the full open position.
One thing you might consider. Put a vacuum hose on the double throttle diaphram. Suck. If the diaphram does not pull in, and you can't hold a vacuum on its diaphram.......its busted. If it's busted, then cap both vac lines to the water thermo valve and go about your business. Or just cap the vac line at the double throttle diaphram. Or just cap the vac hose going to the water thermo sensor. Or cap the source of the vacuum that goes to the water thermo sensor. Or.....
Sorry. I've owned two n/a's and neithers double throttle diaphram worked. I never found a working one in a junk yard. Probably looked at at least twenty to thirty cars in the junque yard in the past and never found a working one. So I've never had a working double throttle diaphram or double throttle system ever.
Short answer to your question: A filter goes on the end. A built in filter, not a aftermarket one.
