NJ V-Mount & E-Fan Setup Question?

hey im starting to fabricate some brackets and shrouds and everything for a v-mount setup using a koyo radiator and a v-mount setup intercooler wondering though with all of this and shrouds to divert air to the intercooler/ radiator/ oil cooler throught the top and bottom do i need an electric fan or maybe a puller fan ontop of the intercooler to where to hood cutout is this is my last question before i start fabricating

No fan is necessary for the intercooler, you dont use the intercooler at idle, and a fan would just be an obstruction at speed. Just make sure that you have a clear path for air to exit from the top of the hood. A fan is necessary for the radiator of course...

thanks guys much help i guess i dunno who to go with i have been looking into it tho and seeing who has used fans before i think maybe worse case scenario i put a puller fan in front of the radiator i guess but yea im around the princeton area plainsboro to be more precise i actually got sidetracked and started to do the 929 bmc upgrade so thats underway but yea meanwhile im waiting for the shineautoproject sexy style hood to be made ima order that and retrofit my vmount to that hood ill give you a shout out when i get started ill try to find camera to show pics

"NEED" is a very strong word and it seems that you are implying that he needs a vented hood as well as clear path the exit the hood, unless you have the datalogs to prove you NEED a vented hood, be kind when rec'ing that someone spends hundreds of dollars on a hood that they don't need
That being said, I have the datalogs, you don't NEED a vented hood. It helps at speed but only by a few degrees F, the main benefit of a vented hood is sitting static it seems to keep the intercooler from heatsoaking a little longer and it seems to bring the temp down slightly faster, but not by much. The key is the ducting. Proper ducting will keep the heat from the rad away from the intercooler.

A good REAL intercooler will make a huge difference. There is a very distinct difference between a $500 griffin intercooler and a $100 ebay hunk of AL

To really see the benefits of a vented hood ducted to the intercooler, you'll spend days 'glassin that hood to make it work properly. That hood is more suited for keeping underhood temps down and if you duct the intercooler properly, you don't need it. I've been blasting down the highway before with an unvented hood and been within 10* of ambient. With the hood, closer to 5-7*

On my rad, yes of course, although my coolant temps even on the hottest days don't get above 170ish*.

The AIT's didn't change much under driving conditions when I built/installed the vented hood. Like I said, it helps with the heat soaking and dispersing the heat that builds up in the intercooler.

The key is to duct the hood to the intercooler. Doing this will make it the most effecient at doing the ONE job that it should be doing. If you allow it to vent engine bay heat, it's going to let the heat from the engine bay into the intercooler area heatsoaking it more and faster. Then when you start moving, air will follow the path of least resistance - meaning the hood will pull air from the engine bay easier than THROUGH the core of the intercooler, making it less effiecent For all you people that think that a vented hood is necessary here's two things to consider -

Go look at Ians car - BlueTII
I said before, my IAT's where damn near ambient ripping down the highway, and I only saw a few degree decrease with the hood.

that is wut i was going to do i was going to make a aluminum shroud to close off just the intercooler and the vent in the hood like kyle mohan's fc he had but just wondering did i need the fan to bring air from radiator to engine bay like the stock setting or leaving it ducted

for intercooler:

and for the radiator/oil cooler duct:

tell me wut you think

Looks absolutely gorgeous! Great fab work! And you would NEED a vented hood with that shroud around the intercooler.

Edit: Hahahahhahaaa..... I thought that was your car..... but yea, that setup looks like a good one. With a shroud around the intercooler like that a vented hood would be necessary, otherwise like Titanium stated above, duct around it.

I think you should stop using "wut"

Ducting looks good. Make sure there's no contact that could possibly rub through any of the exhangers

Not the grammar police, the maturity/common **** everyone off **** pointer-outer.
Yes I have OCD.
No it doesn't bother me or anyone that knows me.
I don't suffer from it.
Some people actually appreciate it.
Are you in my "moran" thread? Is that why your panties are a little bunched?
