Question Using Engine Honey/Bardahl to build compression on fresh rebuild?

Would it be ok to put some bardahl or thick engine additives in your rebuilds combustion chambers to build some compression, cause mine fired up the first crank but now doesnt want to fire up. It almost wants to but not quite. Any ideas suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

Fired up and then died or you shut it off? Might be flooded. Rebuilds, depending what parts are reused or not, can flood easily until they build up some more compression.

basically I went to start it for the first time and it ran for about 8 sec then died cause it couldnt hold an idle below a little less than 2k. So the last two times I tried starting it using the starter motor it was close to start but not quite. however it did fire up nicely when we pull started it behind my friends ford explorer. It was then when I was letting it idle for 13min that it started leaking oil form the front cover that I halfassed on the silicone. So I have to redue that.

take some needle nose pliers and pinch off the fuel feed line to the rail from the fuel filter while someone cranks the engine, flutter the line open and closed to keep it running until it stays running on its own.
