Uim,Lim.Gasket question.

Ok i kinda tore up my gasket on my lim and uim when i ported them. When i put them back on i used rvt gasket sealer.I didnt have anything else.So my idle has been very bad since then .Idles steady then when i apply gas it surges bad.So my question is can i get just the lim and uim gasket somewhere? Like at a dealership? Also is it possible to get a good seal using rvt?
Thanks

Yes you can get all gaskets at the dealership, or mazdatrix.com

I use RTV every time, hardly ever use gaskets except on the LIM to block connection and I never have leaks. You just got to use enough and let it adhere properly is all. I've ever used Ultra Copper in conjunction with a gasket for my header and it solved an exhaust leak problem.

What kind of RTV did you use? The blue **** is horrible. I prefer the grey... the black isnt that bad, but I just prefer the gray, seems to harden into a better texture.

I picked up a full gasket set (exaust manifold, exaust flange, LIM to block, UIM to LIM, Plenum to UIM gaskets, as well as BAC, ACV, EGR, and something else, cant remember for like 60 bucks.... Better to do it right though, ya know.

Me? I use whatever is around. Black, orange, copper, grey, whatever I have on hand. It all has worked the same for me and never had a single problem with sealing. Only thing I've ever used on my header to block (along with a normal gasket) is ultra copper, though, because that was the highest temp range I could find.

RTV is my best friend when working on the car

Using RTV on manifolds...how hard is it to clean that off when you take it back apart? Easier than a backed on paper gasket?

My opinion, yes, because it just peals right off and I've never had any good luck with paper gaskets coming off very easily.

i've used a fine film of rtv on gaskets between manifolds and found that it can help get the gaskets off later.
