two Minor problems Trying to figure best way to fix
For starters i get 10mpg and getting worse, I know somthing is wrong, some say injectors, but thats one thing i will pull later this week, I have to give it alot of gas pedel to speed up normaly and Just feels slugish all together.. Another thing is that i think my cat is getting plugged and maybe even the precat, I looked under the car after a drive the other day and it was not all red hot But the flang on the outer rear ring as the exhaust leaves the main cat is getting red, the main cat is now hissing and its opening up slowly. Im not sure if a bad cat can lead to no power and crappy gas milage but i just put 5.443 gallons in the car and i only got 57 miles, this car is making me Broke. I have to have at least a half of a tank to feel safe going anywhere! I know these cars suck alittle gas But dayam!! i dont know even where i can start to fix this problem! maybe smaller injectors? But i first have to think its the cat, its been doing this for 4 months or more so can they Slowly go out like that and cause this for a long peroid of time? if anyone has some info that would be great,. Also first thing i am looking for is a Full exhuast system USED if possible.with no cats.. Untill i can save up more with having better gas milage then i can save alot more, anyone with a used exhuast system Or some clean injectors laying around that i can use for test purposes Please Drop me a PM thanks guys

If you hit a wall near 4K, zero in on the cats being clogged. Bad O2 sensor would be down on my list, if your injectors have more than 150K on them, I'd start there. Cleaning them does NOT extend their usefull lives. Been there...
Also might want to check out your fuel-scheduling related sensor inputs at the ECU (in the FSM, or do a search...)

I had a writeup on simplifying troubleshooting down at the ECU, but it's been a while, so it might be lost in (cyber)space. Try searching for "troubleshooting at the ECU" or something like that...

If the cat is flowing the temperature ahead and behind the cat will be pretty close to the same, if it's plugged it'll be way hotter ahead of the cat.
A quick fix is to cut a slot on the cat side of the flange to relieve the backpressure to let the motor run. It'll be loud but it'll get you to the muffler shop for a new cat.

i just redid my oxygen sensor and it has made a good difference i was getting like 12mpg and now im getting about 15mpg it ended up it was reconnected very poorly with just a crimp connector and plus the heatsheilding on the wire was spliced in the connecter too. so oxygen sensor does account for some gas mileage.
and i also am in pursuit for higer mileage.
