Two GXLX, both dead!!! Please Help!
Alright guys, so I've been dealing with this problem for about a week now. I've searched for hours (literally) and worked on the cars for even more hours. Here is where I stand. I have a 86 and 87 GXL. The 87 used to be my daily driver, however I blew the motor this past Sunday (June 1, 2008) while coming home from work. I just recently purchased the 86 but it will not start.
87: Blow motor, everything works perfect on it.
86: Will not start! I've replaced the coils, air sensor (located at intake), Spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, temp sensor. It is kicking over at a pretty decent speed, but will not light up. So I turn to the wisdom of the forum, what else should I try to do?
Things I'm going to do tonight:
~Clean fuel pump sock
Any other suggestions? Please help, I've been riding around my buddies' Ninja and its great and all but I miss having 4 wheels on the asphalt.
Thanks!

Well, I would stop replacing things and try and find out what is wrong.
Do you have spark at the leading plugs?
Do you have adequate compression on all three rotor faces, on both rotors?
Do you have adequate fuel pressure to the injectors and are they firing?

I'm pretty sure I have sparks at the leading plugs, the coils I replaced and the spark plug wires.....what definitive way is there to check that I am or not getting a spark?
The compression is good!
Fuel pressure I'm worried about......the pump doesn't sound like its going on.....idk if its supposed to prime or not! Please, a little more info on this would be greatly appreicated!

Well if you need any artsy stuff done, I'll gladly do it for a broken RX, lol, I'm a starving artist so I don't got much money.
But I do web design, 3d modeling, etc etc etc...if it's an artform on the computer, I can hook you up. :p

how long did the 86 sit? Pour some MMO (marvel mystery oil) in 2 of the plug holes (one plug from each rotor). Spin the motor over by hand a few times and let it sit for a couple hours. During the sitting period, spin the motor over by hand every so often.
Hopefully she cranks up when your done!
TO check spark, take one of your spark plugs out, with spark plug wire connected. Remove the fuse for the fuel INJ. Set the spark plug against a ground (bare metal of the chassis, side of the motor, etc). Crank the starter. If you have spark, you will be able to see it at the spark plug.

Yea, it was replaced. I checked the coil per the Haynes Shop Manual and it gave me perfect readings. I'm going to say that its not that!

Ok, so there is an update. I was looking and I noticed a large hole in the Air Bypass Solenoid Valve, so I swapped it out with the one that works! The oil seems a little thin. LIke thiner than 5W-30.....I think this may be a problem. I'm going to inject it with ATF when I have a fully charged battery and see what that does. I did end up bridging the fuel bypass thingy....I'll try see if that works. Any other suggestions?
