Turboing N/A...need a lil help!

OK..ive been researching this on the forums for a couple weeks now and have a learned a lot. But i need some advice on a few things. First off i have an aftermarket turbo manifold on the way from xs-power(yeah i know some of you guys think these are junk but im gonna give it a try anyway) and my one friend is going to give me his DSM 14B turbo off his talon. I want to go ahead and run 3psi off the bat for a while till i can tune everything properly. My questions are....1) what should i use to control fuel? FMU, S-AFC, ...etc. 2) will i need to upgrade my fuel pump? 3) do you think i can get away without running an intercooler for the time being? 4) anything else i would need??

Also, im going install a Tial wastegate with a 3 psi spring if that helps any.

Thanks for any help

3 PSI? Why even bother?

And the Talon turbo is probably WAY too small. I don't know the exact turbo you speak of, but all the stock DSM turbos are tiny little things...

At 3 PSI, you can keep your fuel system stock. You won't make any more power anyway...

so you dont think ill gain anything from 3psi? Ive been reading all of your posts, how much psi are you running? the only reason i want to run 3psi to start off with is so i can get used to tuning it, then when i feel it is safe i want to slowly start to tune the boost up. My goal is to run 9psi safely on my stock engine if it is capable to run that.

Probably? more like IS! That thing is TINY. Not even a 20G would do better than a stock turbo. Also, the xspower manifolds are T4 manifolds, a 14G won't bolt to that. Also, what are you going to do about the exhaust outlet on the 14g? The o2 housing is going to be poiting right at your passanger inner fender. Also, you'll be forced to mount the turbo on it's side, which will then put your oil feed & return on the sides.

Psi isn't of much concern on the engine, as long as it's tuned properly you can run whatever you want (up until the certain power limit where the block itself can't handle it, such as dowel issues/etc), but even a 4port has those problems.

I was running 18psi on a BNR Stage 3 on my 180k mile 6port at the drag strip time and time again with no issues (other than blowing intercooler hoses).

14b is a very capable turbo. Its been known to run 12's. You guys are thinking of the t25's in the 2g Eclipse/Talon. Bolting it up to your manifold is a whole other story though.

On a smaller DSM engine running damn near 22psi with every bolt on imaginable. The thing is VERY undersized for a rotary.
