TurboII Technicalities...

Alright, I'm looking at an authentic S4 TurboII (1987), and i've got a slight dilema with the stock seats. Now, I know what the stock T2 seats look like, however it appears as though this one has the 'wrap around' leather GXL seats. Is this normal for an 87 TurboII??

To make it clear, it does NOT have these seats:

However these are the seats in it instead:

Is this an 87 thing only?

I've seen those seats in a white 88 TII. It was not an 10th anny either, so maybe it was just an option.

My TII has the seats that looks like the ones in the first pic.

those seats in your first picture are from a s5 (came on my s5 turbo and my friends GTUs), also the leather seats in the second picture look like their out of a gsl-se or something

also from what I've seen the 10th Anny seats are the same as the s5 leather seats....

S4 TurboII's have the same S5 seats...they're shared all through out S4-S5's.

I'm wondering about those seats in particular, I've now seen them in S4 turboII's. S4 GXL's, and GSL-SE's.

My 87 TII had cloth seats, so I have no idea.

the grey seats in the 2nd pic might be from a GXL with leather, and no those are NOT the stock seats for a t2 car.

haha man that car looks haggard, its got manaul window doors on it even now!...

>_> that's not the car, that's just a place holder.

The car i'm looking at is 100% stock, and it's authentic S4 T2.

that one guy might be right those 2nd seats might be from a 1st gen... but im not sure....

the real t2 leather seats should look just like the seats in your first pic, with a non-adjustable headrest

According to the original Mazda brochure (as found in the FAQs), leather was not a factory option for an '87 TII:

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...21&postcount=3

The gray leather seats in the picture posted above are probably '86 or '87 GXL leather seats. If the TII Eple is looking at has them, they were probably added later. I wonder what door panels Eple's TII has; that might be another clue about what seats it had from the factory if they weren't switched out as well.

Although it is true that the S4 and S5 TII seats have the same bolsters, headrests and overall shape, the fabric choices did change between the two series. The black cloth seats shown in the first post were S5 (TII and GTUs) only. S4 cloth seats in a US spec cars would be light gray, blue or red cloth.

For what it's worth, my red 91 turbo came with those leather seats in black.
