Turbo Whine?

I remember a bit back someone posted a video of them driving at night on some back roads going pretty fast, and the drivers drunk/high friend with the camera was getting all freaked out. Anyways, you could hear the turbo whine pretty loud from inside the car, and I remember people making comments on how cool it was and all, and asked what was making it louder and he said something that I can't remember as a response. Anyways, my turbo sounds pretty loud when I gun it, a lot louder than my dads 1.8T Jetta which you can only hear with the windows down. I was just wondering if it was a sign of anything bad and if yours is pretty audible from the inside of the car.

dont know your mods but if you get a downpipe, it'll up the volume on the whine. I love the whine, a lot more than the "pop" from backfiring.

Its nothing bad. A friend of mines has a Jetta turbodiesel and you can barely hear the turbo spool unless he floors the gas pedal. I've driven a stock TII once and its a bit louder.

My previous TII ran standalone so there was no AFM needed. Previous owner had wire mesh screen over the turbo intake opening and it is very loud when the turbo spools. (And yes, I know running a turbo with just a mesh screen is bad.)

He was running a S5 turbo...

It has a few of the compressor blades that were bent. It still boosted fine, but whines like a semi truck
I personally thought it was pretty cool, but was not on purpose.

I do not recommend you go and bend your compressor blades to try though
