New 3rd Brake Light

Last summer I made a custom 3rd brake light thing for my FC..I thought it was pretty cool,. I even sold a bunch on Ebay Basically just stenciled the letters on a cutout and glued it in the light, then sealed all around so no light got though. Here is a pic of that (Used an emblem off a FB for the lettering..)

Ever since Ive started my Turbo swap..Ive wanted something a bit different. I will have no "Turbo" badging on the car, but wanted a little something to denote what was under the hood I started on this today. I tried to make the "o" in turbo a rotor shape...Im not done yet, obviously the sides need sealed as to not let the let past, and I need to trim the "b" a little.. but just thought Id post it up and see what everyone thought.. Here ya go..

I think Im going to try and make it in a different font...as I think it looks a bit tacky as it is now..but its just a test fit..

I can think of better ways of getting a "Turbo" badbe on the car than by blocking most of the light coming from the hi-stop light...

I hear you, and I realize that it is technically illegal..but I've done dumber things If someone were to rear-end me at night, it could be argued that they werent aware of my stopping due to the blockage of the light. When I've sold them, Ive noted this and listed them as "for offroad use only", etc...

But Im still keeping it on..

The FB one looks nice, but the other one looks like it needs some work. I think if you copied the porsche turbo emblem it might look real nice though.

How could they say that? I mean, it's a 3rd light added on.... wouldn't they see the other 2?

Haha, thats exactly what Ive been searching for to use.. I think that one will look awesome. Yea the current turbo one looks pretty ghetto, but it was just a quick test run to get it centered, and just get an idea what I want.

Hehe, no. Its just really thick paper-like stuff. Kinda almost cardboard-ish.

I will be selling more as soon as I get some more brake lights in.. Install takes 5 minutes tops, just two 10mm nuts and the light bulb. I'll post links to auctions in this thread once I get them finished.

Yea, I dont see how its much different than the "Ram" tail light covers for dodges, or anything like that. But I list that disclaimer to cover my own ***...

I like the 1st one much better than the second. What if you reversed them and see what they look like with the light looks like going around the Rx-7 ?

the reason is because with the "letter of the law" etc etc, it is illegal to block any part of your brake lights with any kind of aftermarket obstruction. so i would imagine those dodge ram things that someone mentioned are illegal too if they are aftermarket.

I really dont want to sell items directly over the forum. Like I said, once I get some made and ready to sell , I will post links to Ebay ads.

By "BLING", I assume you mean expensive... (sorry I dont speak ghetto.. )

Well take into consideration I have to buy the light assmebly, which usually is $10-$15, + shipping charges. Then I have to spend between 30-45 minutes making the cutout, epoxying it in place, sealing off the rest of the light, and taillight. Then install it in my FC and make sure it looks good, straight, no light escaping where it shouldnt be, etc.. If I sell for $25 I make maybe $5 for all that effort.

Now I have sold some on Ebay for WAY more than $25 though...
