Turbo swap questions

If I buy a JDM motor with the tranny, harness, and ecu, will it be the same as a USDM swap?

Also does anyone make drive shaft for a turbo trans to non turbo rear end?

If you use a JDM Harness its shouldnt be a problem using the jdm ecu(N374)..But it does kinda sit on the opposite side(RHD)...you can use the jdm ecu with a usdm harness if you chip it with a knight sport chip (thats what I have)..I believe Mazdatrix sells the Drive shaft you want cause I ordered mines from them to (cost me around 300)...easy swap though just got to have everything

No need to use any other harness other than your na one with turbo ecu. Search a lot on this so you know what direction you want to go with the swap.

One thing that would help, what year is your car?

The S4's harness would have to swapped for a TII harness.

With an S5, you can use your same harness for either engine.

This is total crap!

I am using my S4 NA harness on my TII motor, Runs great! In fact, it is common practice to use the NA harness because it is MUCH easier.

Forgive me for giving not so great information, I have read, not experienced, that you can not use the S4 harness and have everything be direct plug and play.

From what I have read, once again, not experienced, is that there is alot of splicing, cutting and hacking done to an S4 harness.

Also, that the S5 is a direct plug and play.

So, please clarify as to whether that is right or not?

Incorrect!

If you are doing emissions removal, all you have to do is lengthen the TPS wires (I built an extention cable with a used harness.). Also, you could wire in the Knock box, but that is basically useless.

If you want to maintain the flapper door in the exhaust manifold (can't think of the proper name right now), you need to wire up one of the solenoids to activate that.

It is basically lengthening a few wires (Maybe 6 single wires at most!)

Very easy to do!

Ok

I did this swap on my auto GXL Series 5 ---> manual turbo Series 5 and I only had to splice 2 wires using the NA harness.

There are write ups. Do a search.

Oh and it looks like your from MN. I just moved up here and wouldnt mind helping to do a swap. Im just dying to get wrenching again.

If your car is an NA, just get the same series motor and use the NA harness! Simple! Damn near plug and play!

There is a thread like 5 down from this that explains what to do.
