The turbo swap. Finally!

So it looks like things are starting to piece together. I have apotential buyer for my S5 N/A engine ($850 for a perfect complete motor with harness and ECU) and a j-spec TII engine on order at a local place ($850 for that woohoo!) So thanks my 16 month old spawn I get a fat refund every year. This year $3600. Now its a S5 TII motor and I'll track down the harness and ECU. However Installing and porting won't be a problem. I just have a few questions. First off how do the turbo motors run with a bridge port? Also with the stock fuel system, stock turbo and a ported motor (exhaust and intake etc also) is 300hp at the crank while maintaining reliability possible?

im not sure if you want to run a BP with the stock stuff, fromwhat ive heard, the stock fuel is only about good for 250 hp, im not sure wheel or crank....

Sorry im not much of a help but consider it a free bump!

Well If you want it to be more reliable just get a big street port. With that setup and an fmic, pump, injectors, and an safc2 or other fuel control, fcd, full exhaust and tid, ported and modded tb, and optional msd or crane ingition, your car could def put down 300 hp at the crank and drive every day(well what us rotary guys would call dd). Bridgeport is a little too fragile for me a dd but some people do run that way. You just have a very minimal area with the bridge. And considering your only looking for 300 crank hp you dont need to do it. Go with a street port and get the other mods I wrote and you should be good if you have it tuned with a wideband or dyno

Well I'm planning on keeping the motor all stock with the addition of a modest street port, ported waste gate, boost controller and BOV, 2.5" down pipe ( to use my current 2.5" exhaust) and I'm leaning towards a microtech LT-8 or a haltech E6K. Down the road I'll upgrade to 720's and a new fuel pump.

well i would say dont wait on the fuel pump. Otherwise you will not be able to get the ful potential out of your system. At least get that so you can run a good amount of boost. A walbro is only 100 bucks and a fd you can get used on the board for like 60 bucks. Youll need it if you plan to run more than 10 psi safely. 720 secs would be good too. you can get them for about 220 from rx7store.net

Hmm. Ok I'm trying to do this on a budget and so for its looking good. I've already got a TII drivetrain and a ACT prolite flywheel which can come off my N/A motor and bolt on to the new motor. I know what I have to do to install it. I plan on rebuilding it (with teh exception of the seals. They should be ok) and street porting it. I can cut and weld a 2.5" down pipe to my custom exhaust I'm using already. But I'll definitly add a boost controller and a BOV. Is that all I'll nedd to control the boost at say 10-11 psi?

Definately. You willl need an fcd though (90 bucks) Look I know what you mean because I am on a budget. I am and wil have over 300 to the ground soon. Get an fcd for 90 bucks from rx7store.com and get a fuel pump and you could run 11 psi for sure with a stand alone engine managment. But since your making your own exhaust why not go 3 inch to the cat or to the y pipe if your running duels and have a small section taper it down to 2.5 if your running no cat.

Upgrade the fuel system and run a fuel pump. FCD helps alot. Those are just safety measures (my previous owner didnt do it, now the car smokes ).
