Welp...
My problem doesn't seem to be the VDI. I wired it open and went for a cruise. There was NO difference, in either low end or hi end. I still fall flat at 6800 RPM.
Wiring it open was a real bitch, too! lol
Any other testing I should do while it's wired open? I want to know before I remove the wire so I don't have to do it all over again. Next I guess I'll grease the shaft of the diaphragm pot to be sure it's operating on it's own.

...I suppose we're back to clogged cats (square one). (?)

yeah either exhaust or fuel delivery, there is a little filter ON the pump.

i don't recall, but if you haven't checked the plug wires, you should do so, they should be under 16k ohms/meter.
