Turbo Question

Is there alot of people running high horsepower (300&up) rx7's off stock turbos?
If not what's a good aftermarket turbo to slap on and what are the ones not to buy??

Also did u have to chage like the gaskets/ seals when uppering horsepower?? if so any websites that sell gasket/ seal kits for the rx7's??

Would it be important to change the clutch when uppering horsepower too?

thnx

Unless you rip apart the engine dont worry about the seals, as far as turbos, look for a complete kit like from blitz or apexi.

No, almost impossible.
Highest output I've heard of is about 260 at the wheels.

"It depends..."
1) What are you power goals?
Drag racing?
Street driving?
Road racing?
Drifting?

2) How much are you willing to spend?

Yes.
Most engines are over 100k miles by now.
I use mostly all Mazda OEM parts - see Mazda dealer or online vendor that sells Mazda parts.

Yes.
The stock clutch isn't reliable over 200hp at the wheels.
I prefer ACT components.

I was feeling honda in stuff but i wanted to be different. I wanted to bring out a ride that nobody has and looks good. Plus honda's are too expensive when they look like crap... Me and a couple of my friends wanna bring out the old skools imports and kill. For instance, one of my friend jus gotta a turbo starion and my other guy jus bought a 1st gen supra. RX7's are nice looking cars and are affordable w/o a motor.... I saw a couple of posts when i found a few people with like 310hp running like 13's n stuff like that..

I jus wanna have a project car that i can race and put my own money into. Cause i can't do it to my daily driver (cavalier), it's jus my everyday show car.

Nothing cheap about a rotary. But like you said, they are not your ussual highschool kid car. Due to lack of parts, unlike building a Honda, or muscle car, it makes it a challenge to build one from the ground up. Most fun though. Good luck.

You may need larger injectors to run up to 400hp, Infact, I am almost sure. As well, at least a street port. Dont forget about fuel delivery. You lack that above. As well, you may need better fuel mgmt that a SAFC for a realiable car.

Rebuilds add up. the price on aftermarket parts are quite pricey too. gotta be patient and find the good prices. The rotary has actually made me broke and in debt. but you will love it.

Wow, your goals...and what you're planning on doing are just on 2 different spectrums. To get upwards of 400whp, safc has to go out the window. 720's x 4? Nah.... Do more searching.

you might be better off dropping a 20B in your FC to acheive your 400hp goal.
