turbo oil lines...?

I am in the process of completing my 6 port turbo conversion. Where is the best place to tap for the feed line to the turbo? Right now i have a line tapped into the oil cooler and have modded the oil pan with a drain tube.

My turbo i think failed due to this setup. Is it possible to tap a hole where the stock tii feed line was originally located?

My feed is a t at the oil pressure sender and drain is the stock t2 front cover. Been working perfectly for nearly two years.

How do you read oil pressure if you use the sending unit tap?

you "T" the hole for the oil pressure sending unit and hook one side of the "T" to the turbo feed and the other side to the sending unit.

Tap were the factory oil feed is. Punch the plug out, get a vaccum cleaner and whatever tap you need per the fitting your using.

Aaron, i did the setup you first did with the oil cooler feeding the turbo. Exact! Is this a good spot? I used the stock oil cooler line banjo anf braided section with a hose clampped to the end of it.

considering i just did this for a customer's n/a>turbo engine i will say this is a horrible idea!

so much filings went down into the front stat gear feed hole it wasn't even funny and you can't punch out the plug because it is oversize from the stock 12X1.25 bolt(ie nothing left to tap into).

you can only mod that hole if you have the engine fully disassembled and even then it is messy and requires a bit of cleanup.

a sandwich plate at the oil filter is ideal and easiest.

I did it and it turned out perfect. Engine together. I know its oversized from stock. Theres a bit smarter way of going about it.

since you got lucky it's a good idea though? i simply tapped the brass since the plug is in there to stay but after seeing all the debris it was ugly, all that metal right onto the bearing.

I didnt get luck, at all. Theres more than 1 way to skin a cat. Its more, use more noggin but some people dont want to take the extra mile of knocking out other plugs to fish vaccuum line hooked to a vaccum, threw holes ect. It's not an arrgument either. Ive also seen bungs welded in that spot WITHOUT drilling anything.

to each their own i guess. it only takes a sliver of debris to run down that tube right below that port, run around the e-shaft once, gall it up and start a nasty chain reaction.

that i consider luck and something to consider.

i've seen some pretty dumb things work too, i wouldn't consider it the rule and i'm a fairly conservative guy, letting **** fly that most others wouldn't. coolant passages yea, drill away but i take heed when working around the lubrication system.

Whats all this foolhardy talk about tapping anything our welding bungs? An oil filter pedestal would be the easiest, but my IC piping didn't like that idea.

All you need is a 1/8 bsp -> 1/8 npt adapter to a "T" one leg goes to your oil pressure sender , the other to a 1/8npt -> -3 an {or -4} fitting. Done.

The link I posted has 4 other options for getting oil. Filter pedestal, tapping front iron, tapping oil cooler line, using the stock pressure sender hole.
