Exclamation turbo ll "brain?"

I am new to the forum and to working on my own rx7's, but so far im having a blast! anyway, i put 680's in as my sec. injectors, took a lil work but i got em to fit. my question is this. i heard after putting them in, that there was a certain cut off date when the 680 GSL-SE injectors would no longer work (cars produced after 6/ 87) well mine wa produced 7/87 (just my luck!). so a buddy of mine gave me a silver box the size of a small book and said it was the "brain" out of an early 87 and that by swapping it, the injectors would then work. thats great and all...but where is it located, hesaid on the floor board?? i dont know which side, ive looked and dont see anything, i looked under the dash as well...is it under my carpet? help!

Its on the passenger side right at your feet. Pull up the carpet and then remove the (4) screws from the panel and there ya go.

I don't think it will work. If you had left the original ECU in the car and added the two 680, 2-3ohm injectors to the secondaries, then you would add a 10ohm resistor in line with those two. If you put the old style ECU in the car, you still need two 10ohm resistors in line with the 680's. The early cars had a resistor pack between the 12v source of power for the injectors that when added to the injectors impedence gave an overall impedence of about 12ohms. I don't see the need for changing ECU'S. Just a need to add a 10ohm resistor b/t the source of power to the injectors(680's) and the injector. Just a thought. Yup, ECU is located on the passenger side, under the rug, where the passengers feet are, on the floor that slants up. Make any sense?
