what causes rough idle?

ok, so I get my car back from paint and that. and my idle is kind of rough at times. it used to be very smooth. I get it back and it feels like there's some sort of clinking at times. at other times it seems fine. I don't really notice any power difference, but I want my idle smooth. now it hadn't been driven much for about 3 weeks or so. could that change anything?

you could perhaps try fuel system cleaner. good chance it wont fix the problem but would be about the cheapest thing to do and wouldnt hurt anything
