Turbo Kit on N/A?

Is it possible to just bolt on a Turbo Kit to the N/A FC motor? If so, what's the best application?

Any thoughts?

Thanks a bunch!

Yep. I did it to mine. But it was all custom stuff. And it was a new motor with a large streetport.

I just bolted a 13b-re into my 90 NA auto car. Anything is possible, with money time and sweat.

Is the 13b-RE the FD twin turbo? Cause that's the engine code I've seen so far. But I wasn't sure if I could swap that into my car.

The FD engine is the 13b-REW. The RE is from the Cosmo. It is basically the same as the FD engine but with engine mounts closer to where they are in our cars. It can be done, but there is some custom work involved. As for a turbo kit for an NA, it doesn't exist. The only way is with lots of custom work, time, and money. It would be cheaper and easier to just get a rebuilt turbo engine and swap it in, especially since you should prob rebuild the enigne before you go through turboing a 6-port. But if you really want to, it can be done. Seach around, theres a number of threads on it.

13b-re's the cosmo engine, 13b-rew's the FD, both will take quite a bit of work to get into your car, though the rew'll require more custom work I believe.

edit: that's what you get when you open a post and then go get breakfast... pretty much what he said.

Ive got about 7 days work into the swap and its running and driveable. Its less work than would be involved turboing your NA engine if you take into account the rebuild everyone is recomending. You can probably get away with the 13b-re swap without initially rebuilding it. I did, and the compression is excellent. I will be buying another 13b-re when I see one for a good price so that I can build a good streetport motor for when this JSPEC engine gives up the ghost.

If you have some real money we can put together a kit for you.
We have a manifold that allows bolting on a to4 on an n/a engine.

You risk running a bad turbo/wastegate. And other various factors. Getting it all in one sitting in where it's at.

I'de never do a setup without buying new or rebuilt products.

All the NA-turbo info you need is available in the FAQ and via the search feature. There are no bolt-on NA turbo kits. Closing this thread as NA-turbo is probably the most covered topic on this forum.
