Turbo II ECU Theory and Operation
Ok, so I have a question for all of you turbo II guys that are still running the stock ECU.
I have an 87 turbo and I can NOT get this car to run right. Cold or hot its constantly surging because the O2 seems to switch too slow. Whats funny is... the computer is using the O2 signal when its cold, i.e. open loop. Now correct me if Im wrong, but isnt the ECU only supposed to use the TPS and MAF signal in open loop? Ive already sent the computer out and had it checked and it supposedly went through all the simulations good and the company said it was good. But when I asked the "tech" this same question he said he wasnt sure. Sooo.... I kinda lost my faith in them. What do you guys think?

I had a similar issue with my T-II and found out the hard way it was because the O2 senser didn't have much of a ground connection. I ended up getting a very large ring terminal and soldering a wire from it to a solid ground connection on the engine itself. Just screwed the O2 senser down on the big ring terminal and everything went normal.

Hey you make a really good point! There isnt a good ground for the O2 if the ground strap thats down on the exhaust is missing or broken. I'll try that. Thanks for your help.
