Turbo engine question

For a TII conversion do you need the engine out of a TII, or could i just use the 13b in my n/a with the turbo parts off of a TII?? I dont really want to have to buy the engine too.

Hey, how's it going. I found this site and figured it might help you out quite a bit. A few clicks of the mouse, some keystrokes and you're in there!

Man Jspec, all you seem to do is offer suggestions on how to search and bitch about posts that you think belong somewhere else. You do realise that there is a Sticky that covers the search feature.

LOL...don't have a cow. I think that if people would SEARCH before they post a thread that they would find most of the answers they need without taking up useless bandwidth. I have seen this SAME type thread pop up EVERY OTHER WEEK since I've been on the forum.

I have also seen the "SAFC" style questions, the "Carbon Fiber Hood" questions, the "n/a to turbo" questions. I swear I have answered these questions more than twice, so it's sad when people don't search. It also brightens my day when the moron's that ask, "turbo 240SX VS. TII" and "300ZX pros and cons". Wouldn't these do better in the automotive section? How about,"Hey all, I'm selling my HKS intake for $50. Anyone want it?"...that **** happens ALL the time. That's what the for sale section's for!!!

Before I went non-sequential, I SEARCHED for all the threads relating to the modification, pros vs. cons, and anything that may have been pertinent. I followed up with a few PM's for people who have done this same setup. I NEVER posted a thread on it because I SEARCHED and found ALL the answers to what I was looking for....unlike a lot of the "newbies". This thread is one of the "newbie" style threads. Any product that I'm considering buying, I SEARCH to see what people's opinions are...why make another thread about something that has already been asked. I mean, it's not like it's a STICKY thread or AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE OR anything!!!

Besides, if that's all you think I'm good for, then go to the 3rd Gen Section/Single turbo section and research me there. I KNOW I have helped quite a few people who are willing to SEARCH before posting a useless thread.

On a side note....I'm going to Mazda tomorrow to buy my o-ring kit. Soon after that, I'll be pulling my engine(for the second time in two months) so that I can pull my engine apart so I can see what needs to be "fixed". Plus some good ol fashioned porting will be done. LOTS of work to do and so little time. How did I get to do all of this on my own......I SEARCHED.

JSPEC.. I love it!!!

BTW, I just purchased a 86 base, I wanna put a T51 Turbo on my 236,000 mile motor, I'm worried about not having enoughe boost so can I:
gut my airpump and put 4 electric SUPERDUPERCHARGERS IN SERIES/Parallel configuration with a 50 shot of NAWS?
Since I cant find a carbon fiber hood like all my hoonda friends, my mommy sez I can move her car out of the garage and make my own, anyone up for a group buy?. I may be slow my girlfriend might get jealous of me spending so much time in the garage instead of hanging out with her at the mall.

Does that cover everything?

I don't think that's all you're good for, and yes I have seen many useful things from you. In most cases though, this forum is chocked full of unrelated stuff. Guess people get bored and ask questions. I know I'd probably post them here because I feel I *know* and can relate to the 2nd gen people better and would want their opinons. IMHO

cbrock,

I have owned 2 FC's. One blaze red '87 n/a and one white '87 TII. My red one was SO fun...just wanted to be abused so I did...and she liked it...

my TII was a GREAT daily driver...never gave me too many problems and was always there when I needed her.

I modified my TII QUITE heavily. That's how I got to be the "expert" on the S-AFC. I've installed probably 4 of these things in different cars....so I pretty much know my settings and am used to explaining theory of operation to people who PM me. But when I JUST answered it two weeks ago in a thread...it becomes a hassle to explain it again...

I absolutely LOVE the 2nd Gen FC. I miss my TII quite a bit(especially since I blew my FD engine ) My n/a is in good hands...my father with more money than me...so I KNOW she's getting good treatment. It just erks me that a lot of 2nd gen guys don't know a lot because they don't look for the answer, they just expect someone to give it to them

hmm, that is true. Alot of NooB here. However, there are a bunch of people, yourself included that are talented in the relm of RX7's. It's those people, the fellow engineers and such that I look to for opinions and solutions to problems. I get really pissed when people start spouting off about stuff they really don't know anything about or have far fetched ideas that even George Lucas can't grasp (or create for that matter).

I might have you beat on the s-afc though
I put one in my Nissan stanza with the 2.4 sohc motor.
Apexi told me it probably wouldn't work and I shouldn't try it. So, basicly zero support and no english instructions at the time(unless I had the 1.8T version...oh wait, not available here). Translating was fun. So finally knowing what wire was for what I used my factory service manual to find which wire was what...used the sentra's settings for the MAF and you know what, it did work. So far to date, I think I'm the only one who has ever put one on that car.

Damn.... remind me to never post a question again. I'm sorry after all the info I have read on this site for the past couple months I havent read a single thing that says "you need the turbo motor", just a question. If your sick of these stupid questions then why do you waste your time reading and replying to them.

The non turbo motor has different internals...ie higher compression. You *could* put a turbo/manifold on a N/A car. However, you'll have a weaker driveline, smaller fuel pump, smaller injectors, no real fuel maps for boost...etc etc. If you really want a turbo..sell the NA and get a turbo car.

for a TII conversion you sell your N/A and buy a turbo II. it's that simple.

Jameson,

Just remember that if you have a question to check out that site first! If there are any truly specific questions that need to be answered, then I feel that a thread is warranted. I scan the Archives monthly in the 2nd Gen forum...might as well keep up on my beloved FC!
