Turbo cooling fan/water temp indication

Hi everone, I just got my car running, I had to tranfer my 87 N/A eng. into a 87 Turbo because I wrecked the N/A. My questions are: is the electric cooling fan supposed to run all the time? It runs as soon as I turn the key. The other question is what would cause the water temp indicator on the gauge cluster not to register? Thanks for your help in advance. Gary

If you're talking about the fan up in front of the condenser, it will run all the time if the wire isn't connected to the sensor on the filler neck.

So you put an NA engine in a TII huh? If the water temp senders are connected then I would assume a problem with mismatched wiring.

Tell us which harnesses, ecu, gauges, etc., you used when you did the swap.

Turbo cooling fan/water temp

Hi, I used the N/A ECU, N/A Air flow meter valve, N/A Boost sensor, N/A engine harness, N/A Gauge harness. The engine runs great just trying to work out some minor bugs like the fan running all the time, I guess I could just unplug it but it would be a nice feature to have if it worked properly. I also have the water temp indicator gauge problem. I guess I could take off the old turbo engine and install it on my N/A the filler neck does have the hole to do it and the wire harness has the connector taped up to use it. Let me know what you think. My long term thought is to rebuild the old turbo engine and eventually reinstall it. Gary
