Turbo charging a N/A. Good idea?

I don't have a whole lot of time to stroll through archives or searches so I'll just create a thread. Now The best way to go obviously as far as bang for the buck would be to turbocharge right? Now what if I wanted to rebuild the motor I have now (S5 N/A) and just turbo charge it instead of putting together a completly different motor. Also it would seem that the N/A motor would have some nice advantages also. I understand the chances of blowing the motor greatly increase when you mix a N/A with a turbo so my question is this. Is there any possible way of turbo charging a N/A motor with say a mild boost (6-8p.s.i) and make some adjustments so the thing doesn't blow right up.

check out www.aaroncake.com....if ur looking for a turbo/manifold and the 2 1/2" spacer so it will clear the 6port intake i've got those...(s4) and a front mount intercooler off a ford probe for $250 shipped...aaron's estimated times are..."unofficially 12's in the 1/4" which sound kinda nasty!!! thats @ 10psi. That sounds a little fast but i'm no one to contradict what he says...he's done it and i respect him for that!!! Good luck!

Yes, it can be done safely. It will take some $$$ and time. There are several of us that have reply to these threads before. Not to be a butt hole, but the time that it took you to write this thread you could of searched for "Turbo N/A" or "turboing a N/A" and have all the answeres including pictures.

obviously it will take money, turboing your NA will cost less than doing a full T2 swap unless you like to blow money and not look for deals.
You can get a Stock T2 intercooler for REALLY cheap off ebay and use that for a front mount as an example. you can get great deals on almost anything. My intercooler was like 10 bucks +ship, and my turbo +manifold/lines was 90$ shipped. if you shop around the cost of turboing your NA will be much less than doing a full swap. There are however disadvantages, they are covered on www.rotaryresurrection.com

If you're not even going to bother taking the time to read through all the other questions and "documentation" others have written, then how the hell do you expect to do this project?

I've done it also. You should be able to make your boost goals pretty easily. However, as mentioned in a thread before I think, using a s4 turbo and manifold makes the install easier because it fits easier. I think the main thing with the turbo'd n/a thing is proper tuning, hopefully have some numbers in a few weeks.
