Turbo [Two] Mods

hey rotorheads. long story short. came back from BMT and im finally ready to do my turbo II swap. just 1500 more and im good.

but i want to take it a step further than stock Hp (s5 core)

i want to know what i can and cant do.

if i can upgrade the turbo without any major mods and other hp mods.

maybe make like 275+ hp.

any suggestions?

BNR turbo's work good.
easy to swap, it's just plug and play pretty much with a few accessories

BNR + RTek, and other supporting mods of course (larger injectors, fuel pump, wideband, good tuning, etc)

exactly what I was thinking.
All depends on what you want your 7 to be and how much power you want out of it?

You could get your goal pretty easily with the ^above links. Stg. 2 or 3 turbo and a rtek 2 or even a or 1.8 or so...

With stock S5 turbo, stock emmissions, RB turboback, K&N drop in I got 265whp with a HalTech E8. Upgrading your ECU electronics this way is like trading an Atari for a PlayStation 3. Everything just works better.

More over, the simpler the better. Less things to go wrong.

if you upgrade the turbo wouldnt you also need custom manifolds and all that? dont mean to thread jack, but i dont think i should start a new thread for this

ohh and if you go standalone, that would also work nicely right?

Normally yes, with an aftermarket turbo. But, the BNR hybrids use the stock exhaust housing with an upgraded compressor wheel and housing.

What you have to understand is that once you get past a certain point (IMO low 300s to the wheels) the costs and complexity go through the roof.

And the reliability goes through the floor! Which adds enormously to the costs!

I myself just picked up a turbo 2, clean car, nice clean interior. Only mods are 680cc secondarys, fmic, intake, and exhaust.
I already have a highly modded FD, I got this fc to be my new daily driver...
I was thinking the rtek 2.0 might be the best upgrade for it since it will still be almost stock except for the fact I can dial it in very precise which would hopefully make the drive-ability perfect and get decent gas mileage(atleast 17mpg off boost)
The most hp I may want would be between 250-280, Think with a bnr and the rtek this should be easily achievable?
I want this car to have decent power so it will be fun to drive if I want to give it some gas and beat most of the 4 bangers around my town while having a car that drives better or as good as a factory turbo 2.
I love smooth power and want boost to be there when I want it to be there at 2500+ rpm, basically have the same power delivery as a stock one except the hp being in between 250-280hp.

What you guys think?

well i dont want it that complicated like racecar status. i know it gets complicated. i want something in the middle that is fast but not complicated. i thought about this deeply. like what else can you do to a rotary to make it faster but keeping it stock. like no porting no removing emissions and stuff. i want it to be legit

thatrs just the kind of **** i need. legit upgrades not ripping anything out of the car( removing emissions and such) i wanted to keep it complete. thanks alot. i want to do what you stated above + a BNR turbo as they say its easy to upgrade. im reading up on rtek and haltek before i buy one. not sure.

thanks alot tho

It would work, but your biggest restriction will be the stock exhaust. You wont hit your power levels with it. Get a down pipe, high flow converter to stay smog legal, and a cat back along with the BNR and ECU. You can always keep the air pump and have it feed air to the high flow converter but not necessary and would be better off removed. Of course with this you need the supporting mods with it, IE fuel injectors, fuel pump, wideband, etc.

well i already put like 3000 into the car on the basic stuff. as a matter of fact my engine is being built by lucky 7 racing. they did an S5 core and put new apex seals and an O-Ring kit. umm and pretty much everything else that comes in a turbo II.

i also just found out i needed a downpipe an exhaust and ****. well idk about the exhaust cuz i think i can use the one i have. it just needs some custom fabrication lol

i see your from riverside. i am from riverside also.

I've got a fair bit of money into my car, and it's only making a modest ~240whp. However I'm still able to beat on it all day at the track and drive home without any hiccups, then to work the next day.

It's reliable now, but will that change once you increase the power?

What did the folks at Lucky 7 have to say about your goals?
