trying to find an engine

Could anyone tell me where the best place to get a jdm motor is? I have heard good and bad things about some of the places and i figured i would see if anyone knew or had actually used some of these places before. All the help and suggestions would be awesome.

Thats true. People around here rape you on parts for engines. I would like to get one too with the tranny attatched. It's just a pain collecting all the parts, when you can just get them all at once.

its a distance from you, but i used jdm importers inc in richardson tx It was local for me so i saved on shipping, the motor turned out to be in great condition, approximately 35k miles on it for 1300! I've also heard great things about japan2la here on the forums, but you pay a premium for the confidence in his product, something like 1900 plus shipping

I bought mine from corksport just about 2 years ago. If you are set on "jdm". Contact ATKINSROTARY.COM or JAPAN2LA on the forums. I am suprised he hasnt shot you a pm.

I have not heard one complaint about either. Research some of the risks involved with a jdm engine, though. Good initial compression doesnt mean years of trouble free service.

Weigh out the benifits of rebuilding and turboing or just turboing your 6 port engine vs. the price of a jdm swap.

Make lists of alternatives after mucho researcho.

you use your harness with a turbo u.s. spec ecu.

they also laughed and said "good luck finding one"

It didnt take me long to find one but i got lucky, picked it up for 200

What are your power goals with 4,500 and are you personally going to be doing the swap?

with 4500, doing the work yourself, you should be able to have a beast of a TII swap.. T2 Motor Full T2 Drivetrain, 720 secondaries, front mount inercooler, exhaust, and maybe... maybe enough for upgraded turbo (if you find good deals on everything) you could expect to get power around 250 rwhp.. keep us updated.

Atkinsrotary.com or japan2la on the forums IS ******* IT.

You will luck into something 3% of the time with some of these honda **** importers, but the other 97% of the time we have to hear people complain about "my NEW engine (out of series usually) with no compression".

The general consensus is Atkins, or Japan2LA, thats the advice your going to get on the forum... Thats all the advice i got, but i gambled and went with who i went with, maybe i got lucky who knows, BUT the main driving factor for me was the importer was local and i could actually see the motor before i purchased, in the end the decision is yours.

I was assuming you were going to have it shipped. Yes. Spectrum makes a lot of sense regarding you going to inspect your engine. That is definately as good as the quality of the engine.
