Is This True? About s5 Tranny
"Has a transmission and drive shaft from an S4(1988) convertible, which is a much stronger transmission due to the fact that the 89-92 N/A RX7s(S5) had ford ranger transmissions in them"
seen this posted in someones rx7 fc vert ad. i dont believe it unless you guys say its true

Not true AFAIK
I believe the Turbo transmissions were derived from a stronger tranny used in Mazda\Ford trucks.
There are no strength upgrades between the series (although the FD used a better version of the Turbo tranny, more\better syncro's if I'm right).

The stock M50N transmission and clutch found in the convertibles is a slightly stronger (and IMO smoother) unit than the M585 tranny found in the non turbo coupes. Manual transmission drive shafts are the same though regardless of non turbo convertible or non turbo coupe.
But M50N (vert tranny) is unrelated to the R type tranny found in the Turbo models and some ford trucks and other ford products. Non turbo M type trannies (found stock on all FC non turbo coupes and convertibles) are not even of the same family as the R types and do not share any common parts
