troubles with getting the transmission back in...

when you think all the hard work is done finally getting the tools to take of the 54mm nut to get at the flywheel for resurfacing, the biggest problem me and 3 friends have is getting the tranny back into place. one of the guys has done a turbo clutch before on a 2nd gen but the one seems to not to want to go in? we have pushed on teh front of the engine jacket it up from the bottom nothing seems to work. please help!

Loosen the Engine mounts a Bit.then you will be able to Tilt the Front of the Engine UP.the back of the engine Down on an angle. If you get a Piece of 4X4 wood, stick iit between the Engine and the rad shroud(if you have one)Or just get something to Angle the engine so it is Lower at the back..By doing this you can get a "clear shot" of the stud on the TOP of the Back of the engine that Is Sort of a guide to the rest of the Trans.,I hope thet helps..OH,watch and make sure that No wires are Between the trnas and the engine once they are Together!(been there done that!)..good luck,STYX!~

Yeah and i had the trans harness crushed between the trans and engine too. My arms are still hurting from rocking and supporting the trans.

Im also using a tranny from a rx3 so the splines are a bit older and beat compared to a t2 tranny. And this is fitting into a 84 13b 6-port large street. how long will this tranny last? XD

Styx pretty much said it all - but one more thing. Rotate the engine with a socket on the eccentric shaft pulley very slowly. It'll help the splines of the input shaft and clutch disk find each other.
