TRIVIA TIME! what's different about my S5 Throttle Body?
Pics! What's different about my S5 Throttle Body?
Yeah like the thread states, can you spot what isn't supposed to be on there, or perhaps something is missing, but i can't tell you, BECAUSE IT"S TRIVIA TIME!. i just want to see if you can figure out what i'm doing with my engine form this picture. but FYI if your'e not familiar with the differences between S4 and S5 throttle bodies you may not know. but i welcome all guesses!

Peace,
Matt

OK so here is why there is an S4 OMP rod bracket on there.
I got an S4 engine form a fellow RX-7 dude up in the twin cities. I have an S5 vert. So instead of going through all the trouble to switch the Front plate to the S5 front plate with the S5 OMP mounting points i decided to do a little mod and just run the OMP
I originally thought i was goingot run pre-mix but decided that i was going to do both, just incase there was an instance of me forgetting to add premix. So i have decided to keep the S4 OMP with a few slight Modifications to the S$ engine block and just wire a resistor inline for where the S5 wiring should be leading to the OMP. I figure it'll be easilly swichable when i get an S5 engine redone for me and also if i so choose, i will get rid of it alltogether.
I chose to do something i hadn't seen or read about before and try something on my own initative, so if there are any people out there with comments on if it will work or not or your thoughts let me know.
Peace,
Matt
I am not sure a simple resistor will stop the S5 ECU from going into limp home mode. The S5 OMP is a stepper motor, and usually a simple resistance is not what the ECU is looking for out of those in order not to throw a code. Not a promise, but I have been around these cars since ~ 96 and I seem to remember something about this.

Here are some links, most saying that you cannot just use a resistor to remove the electronic OMP.

thanks for the reply. I still have a few things i've not read about and would like to try. (hopefully one MAY work but who knows.) my dad is awesome with electronics and i'll see if we can figure something out. not saying for sure if it'll work or not but at the very least i'll just hang the S5 omp somewhere in the car and plug it in.

You'll have to plug in the S5 MOP, and just tie it some where to the engine bay. I'm going through the same headache as you... but I have a s5 front cover on the s4 block. Currently converting to pre-mix.
