trany dead T.T

okay so driving on the interstate, doing 85 in 5th gear i start to hear a wine then feel a vibration in the stick then the motor revs like its in neutral. I down shift to fourth, have gear so i drive to the next exit, get to the bottom of the ramp, turns out i dont have 1,2,3,or 5, find out the next morning i dont have reverse. Time to swap the trany. its a little earlier then i was expecting, but my question is the direction i'm wanting to take the car is from a N/A to a bridge ported turbo. I dont want discussion on porting or turboing a n/a, my question is will the TII trany bolt on to the N/A. Stick position the same? something to look our for? other thoughts on the tranny? or just stick with another N/A trany until i can get the drive train and rear end too? let me know

You need a TII flywheel, clutch and counterweight to put the TII trans on the n/a block. Then you will need either a TII rear-end and driveshaft, or a custom driveshaft to mate up to the n/a rear-end.

Beat me to it!

Search!!!

THis is covered all over the place!

Use the TII flywheel, starter, clutch, and tranny. Also, use the TII clutch slave cylinder.

Finally, either slot your driveshaft to fit the NA rearend or buy the mazdatrix driveshaft.

Everything else is the same.

The TII tranny is far superior.

fwiw, if you are planning on upgrading the tranny later i would just do it now. all the stuff you need to buy now to make the tranny work your gonna need later regardless of if you keep the six port (if you are doin a six port turbo) or drop a 4port (a "proper" turbo swap) in. also, you can use an automatic drive shaft. i kno its been debated blah blah blah, but its cheaper than a mazdatrix hybrid and it works (im using one now and there is literally 3/4" difference in the length and the yoke is already multiple inches into the tranny so .3/4" doesnt matter). plus, depending on your power goals, if you already have an NA lsd rear end (gxl, gtu, etc) then you can keep this diff! (several people, including aaroncake, have put 400rwhp threw it with 0 probs). alternatively you must get a TII driveshaft, diff, cv shafts and hubs (i believe the na 5 lug hubs will work too but im not sure) like was mentioned before

thanks for that, i do have a gxl. normally i would just jump up, but i'm still recovering from an apartment fire so it looks like im going to have to wait again to drive the rx around. I cant in my right mind, knowing where i want to take the car, pay for a n/a tranny in, but cant afford the changes just yet. thanks for every ones help.

I'm really interested to know what exactly happened to this trans. Sounds like the countershaft sheared right between 4th and 5th gears. Feel like taking it apart?
