Are presilencer studs replaceable?

i had a stud break clean and flush on my presilencer a few years back. had a friend weld it back on, though not very well apparently..

I bought some new gaskets to put on the exhaust and found that the weld broke. Are the original studs screwed in? I was thinking of taking a dremel and buzzing a notch in the stud and trying to unscrew it, though that might be pretty tough to do with all the heat over the years... Don't wanna waste money on a dremel if this wouldn't work though.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Wes

drill it out,if you can.Take a center punch, make a mark on teh stud and start drilling.YOu may be able to get enough out of there to spin the old Stud out on the Drill bit(it may say on the bit when you back out the Bit).
OR you can just Make a hole where the old Stud was and use a Tempered Steel nut and bolt,Instead of having the stud there.

Wrong. They do NOT spin out as they do in a manifold.

The studs used by RB have essentially a bolt head that sits on the inside of the flange before it is welded on.

You can buy replacement studs from RB. But to install them the flange needs to be cut off at the weld, studs replaced, then the flange re-welded back.

Been there, done that.

Ouch, that sucks. I'd just go with the 'drill out, replace with nut and bolt' method.

Thanks for clearing that up Dave.I haven't seen a RB presilencer in awhile, and thought that the Studs were just Like a Normal one.Leave it up to RB to make it Harder!.(they have tough stuff).

I tried that with my presilencer and the bolts just spin when drilling. I ground the rounded part behind the bolt flat so I could use a nut there with a new bolt.

I've repaired a few, I used a metric set screw the same size as the studs that came on it. You have to grind the broken stud off flat or the drill will dance around on you, after that you simply center punch it to the best of your ability, drill and tap.
