Oh, I forgot to add that the shifters have a different thread/pitch so you'll need the corresponding shifter.

Just make sure you're talking N/A to N/A or Turbo to Turbo.

I may be doing the same switch myself this evening.

The cross member is not the only think to change. The S4 tranny mount is FLAT. The S5 mount is \__/ and will not fit. You need to change the rear housing from the S4 to a S5 rear tranny housing to intall the S4 tranny into an S5 car.

correct on half of that. you dont need to change ANYTHING on the s4 tranny (i JUST did this swap)
all you need in able to do the swap
1)tranny (everything)
2)s5 cross member
3)if you are doing an n/a to turbo, youll need a new starter, if not, nvm.

but besides that, you DONT need a new shifter, you DONT need a new rear tranny housing, an possibly a starter.
so, ya, thats all.
its pretty much a straight swap, just a lot of sweat and work.

peace

The threads are different between S4 and S5. How would an S4 shifter fit in an S5?
